Basketball set-up for Colihaut village
From Neehall philogene
I am in the process of shipping (2) Basketball Backboard and Support (see attachment) to Dominica from St. Louis, Missouri.
This is a donation for Colihaut in Dominica.
In December 2013 when I was home I saw the kids playing basketball on the court with a drum, round wood and plywood backboard.
I could not taking it any more. I have to do something about that.
On my return to the USA I have being thinking how am I going to change that.
So I have asked AALCO Manufacturing owner, if he can donate the backboards he is removing from a job where I am the Project Engineer.
Coming to understand the owner has known me for a while when I was at University.
I had a meeting with him and he is happy to donate the following items:
(2) Glass backboards 48" x 72"
(2) 6" backstop post 16 ft long (approx. 580 lbs each)
(2) volleyball poles 10 ft long (approx. 100 lbs each)
Associated backboard pads and post/poles pads.
Then another company in Missouri has agreed to freight these items to Miami.
Once its in Miami it will be transported to Dominica.
I am waiting on the address from Miami shipping agent and the cost to ship it to Dominica.
Last night I spoke to Ambassador Vince Henderson and he ensure that these items will be duty free once it arrive in Dominica.
All the basketball backboard and volleyball kit will be properly package at the manufactures office is St. Louis, Missouri.
Ship to a flooring company then freight to Miami.
Then from Miami to Dominica. (This is the outstanding cost or donation I need to figure out). Miami to Dominica
My goal is to get this to Colihaut in time for St. Peters and possible have a ceremony once constructed.
